1984-1985: As a Defensive Back at Riverview High School: Had six interceptions to lead Huron League and also ten receptions as a tight end. Made first and second teams All-Detroit Area, All-Downriver, and All-Huron League as a defensive back.

1985-1986: As a tight end at Riverview High School: Broke Riverview High School tight end receiving record and led league with 21 catches for over 700 yards. Made first team All-Detroit Area, All-Downriver, and All-Huron League as tight end. Played in Pontiac Silverdome.

1986-1987: University of Eastern Michigan Walk-On.
